Bay Area CBS reporter addresses San Mateo County Sheriff’s press release on open carry.
Watch the video clip here.
I have more to say about this but I just had my wisdom teeth pulled
So check back later for more.

“carrying a gun implies you are going to do something wrong”
lmao. never ceases to amaze me, the power of propaganda.
josh:
Yes, I caught that too. Carrying a gun implies you are going to do something wrong? I guess going down the street to BUY some food or perhaps some coffee is a bad thing to do these days, especially if you are armed. It makes me wonder if people like that got their sociology education from gangster and action moves. Truly sad.

Keep up the good work, you are on the side of good and right. I wish you the best.
As for the press release. The Sheriff should be careful about placing blame of a dangerous situation solely on a person seen openly carrying a gun. Such an attitude should be applied to plain clothes police officers of that county and any cities within as well as federal officers that are not in uniform but have a visible gun. Perhaps people should be overly-vigilant and call the police on the police as well. Just because someone has a gun, in a holster, does not imply a crime has happened, is happening, and will happen. The SHERIFF should be vigilant in instructing subordinate deputies and associated 911 operators to quickly and appropriately gather as much information about the situation as possible. The SHERIFF should be vigilant and helping to reduce the potential for a hostile situation by helping to make a deputy’s job better by gathering important information. If someone calls about a man-with-a-gun, it should be determined; “Is the person attempting a robbery?” “Is the gun out of a holster, is it being waived or pointed at someone or anything?” “What is the person doing exactly, are they buying coffee or just sitting, simply walking down the street?” That can not be difficult and I find it hard to believe the 911 operators are not already asking for this information. The excuse that police have little information about a situation is a poor excuse and if that is the case, there is work to be done with in the Sheriff’s Office or 911-Dispatch that would go to help in all potential emergency situations, not just calls about a man with a gun. Is there some kind of animosity between the Sheriff and 911? Do they have a poor system of communications or sharing information?
Don’t create a hostile situation Sheriff. You will only, and unnecessarily cause the injury or death of a law-abiding citizen or even one of your own. I would have you ask Omar Edwards and Andrew Dunton up in New York, but it wouldn’t be fair as one of them is dead.
Forgive me, law-enforcement attitudes like this will eventually lead to a larger problems that will only make life on law-enforcement harder along with ALL citizens (guns on their person or not).

When a police officer shoots and kills a woman holding a “potato peeler”, ( San Jose Ca )
that really scares me to death!, it means that they will shot first and ask questions later,
it seems to me that the ” police officer” was not properly trained as far as how to take away a potatoe peeler away from a 90 lb woman, or how about when a police officer shoots you in the back and kills you when you are laying on the ground, (Oakland Ca)
is that the kind of “law enforcement” the people want?, just like on any job, there’s
“good cops” and there’s “bad cops”!
